Pros

Impactful Work: You have the opportunity to make a direct difference in patients' lives, addressing not just their medical needs but their social, emotional, and logistical challenges. Diverse Experiences: Working in a hospital setting exposes you to a variety of cases (e.g., acute medical conditions, chronic illnesses, end-of-life care), which can help build a broad skill set. Fast-Paced Environment: The hospital environment provides a dynamic and stimulating work setting, which can be exciting for those who thrive on variety. Community Impact: Serving a diverse patient population means you’re addressing real community needs, particularly for those facing health disparities or systemic challenges.

Cons

Prepare to feel frustrated when the workload and demands don’t feel aligned with the compensation or recognition you deserve.

Pros

There are some people there who truly care about the patients. I enjoyed my experiences working with the clinical staff who was interested in bettering their ability to serve the patients and who wanted to make a positive different. It might be possible to be happy working in a clinical setting if you could avoid the corporate confusion around you.

Cons

The corporate influence destroyed this place. Senior clinical leadership is moving around - pay attention. The planning, design, and construction department and added realty group had huge potential to benefit the patients and organization. The ignorance of the President, Senior VP, and VP allowed this group to crumble and stripped it of the ability to serve. The directors were incompetent, disrespectful among themselves and towards employees. The department was full of micromanagement, lies, deception, gas lighting, hypocrisy, sexism, role confusion, office gossip, hiring of friends, excessive turnover, unhealthy work boundaries, no morale, no career support. My department director had no leadership or management ability and had no business supervising people. She had zero facilities, design, or construction experience, and silenced or eliminated anyone who threatened her. She was afraid of real work and relied on the "easy" button. She was a really sad person, I feel bad for her. The VP's and directors were all kingdom builders focused on themselves, fighting each other, and sacrificing their employees. If you have any professionalism, morals, or desire to do well - this is not the place for you. Pay was 30+% less than similar roles.

Pros

Some of the greatest healthcare I've ever witnessed happened at this organization. Cannot speak more highly of those people who show up to work for this org and make their community better.

Cons

I've never experienced such toxic leadership that (ironically) causes decline in mental, physical and emotional health by the iron fist they yield. Current executive leadership utterly destroyed the culture of this beloved nonprofit healthcare org. Executive leadership rewards obedience, complicity, falling in line, misognyny, and board interest. Those who speak up or show any level of interdependence are fired or demeaned in some way. I was verbally and emotionally manipulated by members of leadership who were never held accountable for their actions. So many physicians, nurses and support team leading. This is corporate greed and profiteering at its height in OKC.
