Pros

1. Great corporate culture with "work hard/play hard" and competitive attitude. ISN does a great job planning fun events for all employees and each department plans small team events (bowling, team building activity) to help teams get to know each other. Teams get together for impromptu happy hours/dinners. Most employees are very outgoing, positive and passionate, which makes the environment great to work in. 2. We're rewarded for our hard work with bonuses/incentives based on good performance. 3. Company makes an effort to coordinate volunteer opportunities for employees. ISN also participates in the Corporate Challenge every year (benefitting the Special Olympics). 4. Lots of opportunities to grow in the company - you need to work for it, but pays off. 5. Positive place to work - I truly enjoy working here. 6. Management Team is very transparent with financials, goals, new projects, etc. 7. Positive safety culture - we start meetings with a safety moment and promote safe operations in everything we do. This is an attribute our customers value, so it's very important to us as well. 8. External training opportunities - ISN invests in their employees by bringing in outside companies to train on various topics like 1. presentation skills, 2. soft skills, 3. industry training (i.e. oil & gas awareness), etc.

Cons

Opportunity for more external management training. I've had a few supervisors in the past who have been micromanagers (although this is not unique to ISN - you'll see micromanagers at every company). Although I learned to work with their management style, I think additional external training would be beneficial as some employees may not be able to work productively under that type of leadership style.

Pros

This is a great company for people that are looking to build their knowledge and skills in a fast-paced working environment. Never have I been given so much responsibility up front and allowed to take something and make my own. Company really pushes employees to be their best and you develop presentation and communication skills that will be helpful in any job, at ISN or elsewhere. Great benefits, compensation is great, and office environment is top-notch. Senior Management really cares about their employees and it shows.

Cons

Per the above, lots of young, hard-working people that want to learn and get ahead - so sometimes the competition can get a little discouraging.

Pros

Great salary, and great benefits including free Uber rides. They also do a good job of getting you comfortable with your team and different divisions within the company.

Cons

There's a long list of cons, but the biggest one is poor management. ISN hires everyone in the business side straight out of college. They have a high turnover rate so if you stick it out for 4 or 5 years you are essentially made a supervisor by default. New supervisors are given very minimal training and development. Although there are good supervisors at ISN, the majority of supervisors are prone to micromanage and have no trust in their employees (even if you've worked under them for months and have strong performance reviews). Supervisors often times behave very unprofessionally and irresponsibly. I once had a supervisor tell me how they were extremely hungover during one of my performance reviews and how they were just trying to get it over with. Employees are also given no way to provide feedback on your supervisor or how you are managed. I feel this is a major problem as almost every supervisor I had was a first time supervisor and yet never asked for my feedback on how they were doing. Everything at ISN is done by the book with a template mindset (cookie cutter approach). People will often assume something is wrong if it's not done how it was completed previously. This leads to a lack of critical thinking by employees and a lot of nit picky non-constructive feedback. Performance reviews are purely subjective. No metrics are looked at when evaluating your performance. The phrase "play the game" is constantly used. Promotions and new opportunities are given to employees that are well liked. Non-management level employees at ISN are not valued. In my time at ISN I almost never once felt like my supervisor or the company truly cared about me, my career and my ambitions. When I left the company I was not given an exit interview and my bosses didn't even ask me where I was going to work next.
