Great vision and location but terrible execution

Pros

- Very nice office space - Good work/life balance - Very compelling vision for what they want to do. It really is a technology with enormous potential. - Interesting albeit not very sexy technical problems

Cons

- Dysfunctional leadership with too much infighting. At one point I overheard two senior "leaders" yelling at each other right next to the main break room. Real mature. - Their solution to every problem is to spend a bunch of money and hire someone with a prestigious background. There is no caped crusader who is going to swoop in a turn things around on their own. - Zero culture. The company gives lip service to values but pretty much ignores them. - Head in a sand mentality. Glassdoor is a prime example. Increasingly negative reviews have been brought to the attention of senior management for months now but the company doesn't think there's any reason to reply to them. - Very inconsistent compensation. Some people get bonuses, some don't. We're not talking about commissions, we're talking about bonuses. Salaries also seem to be all over the place. - Arcane budgeting process which in turn leads to constant changes elsewhere. One day they're investing in a given technology, the next they're not. One day they're hiring for a certain role, the next they're not. - Nepotism runs high, much more so than any other company I've been at. - High turnover. Even before the layoffs people were leaving. It's especially bad among support functions. Turn your nose up at marketing, finance, HR and IT all you want but those support functions keep the company running. Despite this all of these teams have seen extremely high turnover in the past 6 months including at senior leadership levels.

Poor management, out of touch execs

Pros

- Great location - Employees are awesome, trying hard to do the right thing - Free snacks

Cons

- Executives like to expound on their hobbies that prove they are out of touch with employees - mountain climbing, yachting, etc. during all-hand meetings - Management are all 'yes' men. And actually are all men as there are no women execs. The only folks who rise at the company are those that say 'yes' to everything and do not argue or have new ideas. Those folks are squashed, fired, or demoted. - No rules regarding how people are promoted. Elevated titles are passed out like candy at the discretion of managers. No KPIs, no leveling guide.

Pros

Impinj is a high-tech company, with a wide range of needs for a spectrum of specialties.

Cons

Putting multiple employees on improvement plans, in some cases when they take medical leave, having the employee successfully complete the improvement plans, in my by working 16x7x120, then dusting off an old version of software in an area of less expertise, and requiring results equal to use of the automated software, and then firing them, is not honest.
