Pros

I enjoy the spirit and culture of volunteering and giving back to the local WNY community. Working for a locally headquartered business is important to me. Salary structure seems more on-point with the industry. Really nice people, a lot of people have really long tenure with the company and it's great to see that. Volunteer hours are unlimited as long as you have manager approval. Health insurance benefits are good, and the 401K program with matching is good (I think you're vested after 6 months which is highly competitive). PTO is also generous.

Cons

There aren't really Resource Groups at IH, just one overarching DIBS group which is a little confusing since there aren't any tailored learning opportunities for a specific affinity (i.e., it may be more helpful to have multiple resource groups like African American Resource Group, Women, Disabilities, etc.). I'd really like to see more in this area. There are some great learning opportunities presented by trainers but I really feel this space needs to expand. There is little to no diversity in our upper management. Inconsistencies with employee experience across departments; some have a lot of autonomy and others tend to be micro-managed. Not a lot of clarity on job roles within my own department. Unfortunately a bunch of people were let go last year and it's a little scary that they may need to do this again in the future. The culture has reportedly suffered since the pandemic (I only started in late 2023 so this information is what I'm hearing from longer-tenured employees). It's like pulling teeth to get people to come onsite for anything. Some departments don't enforce the Cameras-On culture which also contributes to the lack of connection. It's really, really hard to collaborate with people and get to know people from other areas of the company and family of companies when 1) nobody seemingly wants to go onsite, 2) some people just won't turn their camera on, and 3) management seems a little too afraid to enforce anything.
