Immature & exhausting

Pros

Early career professionals are going to find a lot of opportunities to grow. Most of it will be doing creative work making videos and websites for interesting or well known brands.

Cons

Instrument is very producer-led, so career growth in the other disciplines has a very low ceiling. Pay is generally below market, so shop around for other offers. The biggest drawback will be working under a leadership team that is almost completely homegrown. There’s a lot of disorganization and overthinking that could be avoided by hiring people with senior experience at better run agencies. Worst of all, it really does feel like high school. It sounds like a petty gripe, but it is true and it’s an example set at the top.

Pros

Top-tier clients that look great on a resume. Plenty of talented people. Recent addition of Summer Fridays and some attempts at remote perks like guided massage. Making clear attempts at fostering inclusivity.

Cons

Shift to working remote has been very demanding and lots of people have voiced feeling overworked due to unclear expectations. Instrument only recently begun to introduce best practices for employees. The culture is largely superficial and leaves much to be desired. Blatant favoritism and ongoing popularity contest across the company. Some teams are clearly more desirable to work on. Design runs the show and receives the bulk of the support. Strategy is scattered, lacks clear POV on anything, and learning opportunities are close to nil besides the work itself.

Thank you for this feedback, and your time to document it for us to reflect on. We understand the feeling of remote work shifting needs, expectations, and the company feeling behind in introducing new best practices in response to remote work. We appreciate you acknowledging that we are instilling those best practices and we hope they are impactful for employees as they are embraced across the company. Thank you for the feedback on the disparity of experience between disciplines and teams, we are continuing to look at how experiences can feel more consistent across both of these areas and appreciate you highlighting it.

Pros

Instrument is such an awesome place to work. Great company culture and great people to work with. It really feels that everyone is willing to support each other. World/life balance is great as well and they really do care about your needs.

Cons

There is really honestly no downside to Instrument. It's one of the best places I've worked at so far
