Pros

If you are into living in Chicago and happen to be an Engineer, there aren't that many options. The new complex is a good 2 hour drive now if you want to live in the city. The suburbs are really dull. When I started they had ridiculous benefits, but they were soon withdrawn in about 5 years.

Cons

Reading these reviews is really laughable because I've noticed on linked-in that with all the firings and layoffs, the people really responsible for all this companies public mistakes(losing FORD, 2010 V-8 platform, 2007 V-6), have all been promoted into senior management. It really is an old boys network. No one here I think has even begun to explain how messed up this company is. They also have always paid far less than real automotive OEMS, despite the higher cost of living in Chicago vs Detroit.

Pros

People who work there are normal, hardworking, decent folks. The engineers and mid level managers have a good sense of camaraderie. We tend to be "of a type" with lots in common, in hobbies, community involvement, and other interests inside and outside work. There are many pockets of excellence that are or should be recognized industry wide. The company is, occasionally, willing to take some risks. Payscale and most of the benefit package is quite good for people with seniority, less so for more recent hires.

Cons

Very poor planning and accountability at upper levels of management. Lack of understanding of support requirements, lack of engagement in decisions up front. Shoot the messenger mentality at upper levels accompanied by a victim mentality at lower levels causes a vicious feedback loop. Conflict between union and non-union management is unnecessary and short-sighted on both sides, but I imagine that's the same in most of those relationships.

Pros

1. Beautiful office 2. Wide range of variety of food in Cafeteria 3. Company picnic every year

Cons

1. As soon as you done with CDMS and NX training, be prepared for projects to be shoved down your throat from senior engineers to investigate and bring a proposal with minimum help or product information since seniors are too busy with other projects. 2. Expect to travel to their manufacturing plant in Tulsa from 4.30 am till at least 7 pm while only getting paid for 8 hours. 3.Expect to work more than 8 hours a day and also on weekends. 4. Expect to meet deadlines in a short timeframe 5. Chief of this team does not know how to talk to his team members so expect rude behavior after few months into the company. 6. You are expected to know about the product immediately as soon as it is assigned to you 7. Too many ongoing issues in mechanical properties of the bus so expectation is to resolve them immediately. 8. Manager of this team has no say of her own and nods along to everything whatever the Chief tells them to 9. Regardless of how hard you work always expect less appreciation or recognition
