The Company with no Plan to return to profitability

Pros

If you really don't feel like doing anything at all for weeks at a time this is the company for you. From executives to the mail room everyone who wants to is coasting till the company fails. There are no repercussions for late work, incorrect work, not showing up to work. If you get an email and phone call from someone to do something it's not your responsibility till they show up at your desk.

Cons

This company believes in paying as low as they can compared to the market thinking they are still getting the same quality employees as top companies. The 3 year progression, promotion, and raises freeze has caused moral to be at an all time low. Some might argue but those are the well connected people or referring to the 4 % over 3 years raises the company handed out not matching inflation. They had Boston Consulting Group (BCG) come in and restructure the company leaving it with 4 layers of VPs' but 2 layers of all other employees ranging from 1 year of experience to 30 years. Moral is low because being 1 year into this structure there are no plans on how one gets progressed.

The Land of the Good Old Boys

Pros

A number of great "worker-bee" level people. Salary, vacation, holidays and work hours are reasonable.

Cons

The company is run strictly by a Good Old Boy network of long-time employees, many of whom do not have degrees. Advice from relatively new (or educated) employees is accepted with feigned interest, then completely ignored. Members of the GOB network are promoted for accomplishing nothing but that which they should be accomplishing at their pre-promotion level. Happy talk is king, especially when dealing with leadership.

Pros

Co-Workers can be very warm, welcoming, and friendly

Cons

Horrible, Deceitful bully managers. This company has a knack for hiring and placing in charge supervisors that continually get personally sued for their integrity issues. Management loves to harbor ill feelings towards the worker bees. I can think of a place with more slimmy managers, and lazy too. The culture breeds hate and discontent.
