Pros

Some good people in and below middle management.

Cons

15-20% yearly attrition rate in Engineering and Purchasing tells you all you need to know. CEO literally told all of purchasing at the town hall they are replaceable and to leave if they don't like zero flexibility (both hours and holiday). CEO tries to gaslight people talking about fairness with the shop floor staff whilst spending more time at the JCB golf course than the office, he is a bully through and through and shows in culture at jcb. Yes man culture leads to promotion so all the wrong people who have zero integrity, then blame culture from top down so problems are hidden. No senior manager has any backbone or integrity to challenge ludicrous decisions. All senior leadership is JCB born and bread who has an awful track record of late delivery but expect even tighter deadlines form Engineering who face ever increasing complexity. Completely delusional project management adding task on top of task whilst been woefully under resourced. Poor business decisions to satisfy whims of the directors. Start projects, cancel projects, expect employees to make up for poor planning. Used to be interesting place to work but inflexible company, now going from bad to worse and going on a downward spiral with staff motivation at rock bottom.

Pros

Get to walk around a lake at lunch time. The pay for the area is ok.

Cons

Stuck in the 1970's. Very authoritarian system. Fixed holidays which for an office job in 2020 is insane. Projects are run poorly with very unrealistic timing plans. No regard for staff wellbeing, any suggestions on how to improve the culture are suppressed immediately. Not allowed to wear headphones again for 2020 is bonkers. Messages from the owner plastered kn every wall which over time just looks like propaganda. No regard for the customer as long as they are making money.

Pros

Got a nice lake, ducks are friendly. People are typically good.

Cons

The shear arrogance! A company which values those who can wear a suit and know how to make a snazzy PowerPoint than anyone with any passion, technical ability or innovative Ideas. An upper management more concerned with touring customers and the press around the now tired, aging and frankly unimpressive factory, than actually getting the job done well and innovating. An us and them mentality, between the shop floor and office which breeds contempt from both sides. A frankly incredibly lax attitude towards safety, with the near miss quota missing the point by focusing on the trivial while real issues need addressing, like the air quality for example.
