Awful and forgettable.

Pros

Free water and weekends off! That's the extent of it.

Cons

Archaic, old fashioned, stuffy. A bit like a cult in some ways. Worst culture ever. A rigid & controlled atmosphere, hellbent on image and a constant stream of 'good' local PR. Obsessive compulsions to slavishly follow the owners outdated business mantras. A toxic and weird environment. Poor company to work for, full stop. I found the whole experience bizarre. I should have listened! The only people who seem think that this company is the bee’s knees are deluded graduates and staff ‘lifers’ who have never worked anywhere else. Suppliers are generally treated like criminals or dogs.

Culture needs a shake up

Pros

JCB pay well for the area. There is huge variety to the work.

Cons

It is a shame that he company let's good people down. If you would like to work for an extremely autocratic company with no flexibility and a management structure that rules through fear and bullying then this is the place for you. I have seen many instances where management have pushed people well beyond the edge of reasonable pressure for sustained periods. When the employee suffers the answer is to turn the thumb screw and break them. There are many bigots in senior management positions, there are good guys too but in the cut throat culture they are often overpowered. There is no room for flexible working and flexible holidays. Expect to be hauled over the coals for clocking on 2 mins late even if you've put 5 extra hours in that week. JCB do not promote diversity, this is a place where wearing brown shoes instead of black can be considered too risqué. Having worked outside the company it's clear they expect double the amount of work with half the people of other organisations. Expect to be chastised for talking to a colleague or even taking time out to eat your breakfast in the canteen.

Pros

Good pay & Xmas bonus

Cons

Parking is a 10 min walk. Offices are old fashioned & dull. Systems antiquated. Very old fashioned, rigid environment. Clocking in & out with set hours, breaks & holidays. Very Male dominated & a "face fits" culture. Lots of blame but little consequence. Expensive canteen facility. No kettles, microwaves etc. No hot food at desks. Canteen & toilets often dirty. Bins only emptied once a week. Too many managers but not enough workers.
