Pros

The people I work with are incredibly talented and dedicated to doing great work. Work is interesting and never boring.

Cons

Management has spent years cutting staffing and benefits while providing little to no merit increases. They continually ask staff to do more with less support or inadequate tools/systems. Any perks have slowly been reduced or cut. The most controversial cut was reming lower level managers from the bonus pool while keeping in their non-managed peers. These managers who are some of our best and brightest are being penalized monetarily for taking on the extra risk and work of management. How illogical and degrading. Bad behavior amongst some groups that allows for a culture of disrespect.

Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We are happy to hear that you enjoy your work and working with talented and dedicated people. J.D. Power has gone through a lot of changes over the past few years, including changes to our compensation and benefits plans. Additionally, the onset of the pandemic brought some disruption to our Focal cycle. This year, our annual Focal process is about to commence and with a full market-based merit for all our global locations. We are also pleased to have introduced two paid three-day weekends at the start and end of summer, and we just announced two additional paid holidays at year-end. Focus Fridays (no meeting days) have also been welcomed change. The company takes claims of bad behavior/disrespectful behavior very seriously. Please reach out to HR, your manager or send an email to the VoE (Voice of the Employee) email box, if you’d like to discuss in more detail. -J.D. Power

Pros

Premier company in terms of reputation, access to senior levels of clients, product suite. Young people, in particular, will learn a ton and walk away with a great resume builder. Colleagues are first rate. Consistently great culture from mid management down. Flexible work, even before the pandemic. Great work/life balance. Good benefits. Pay (salary+bonus) is pretty good for upper levels. Making progress on DEI.

Cons

The company has consistently shown that it does not care about its people. Minimal (in some cases, zero) pay increases for the past two years despite supposedly good financial results. Excessive workload for some. No clear path to promotion or skills development unless your direct boss is committed to it. We’re losing talent left and right, but nothing changes. Feels like management has its head in the sand. CEO says all the right things and seems to truly care about diversity/inclusion, but the lack of any substantial action on pay, workload, promotions, etc makes it ring hollow.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your positive comments regarding the flexibility of the work, good pay and benefits and the great work/life balance we have to offer; as well as the focus we’ve taken on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The onset of the pandemic brought some disruption to our Focal cycle. This year, our annual Focal process is about to commence and with a full market-based merit for all our global locations. Like many companies, J.D. Power is experiencing above average voluntary turnover, and due to the tight labor market it is taking more time to fill open positions which creates pressure for some teams. If you would like to discuss further, please reach out to HR, your manager or send an email to the VoE (Voice of the Employee) email box. -J.D. Power
