Old style Japanese company disguised as an American company
-Too much paper, not enough use of new tech.
-Good ole' boys management, upper management is very much a club which they choose who they like enough to give the opportunity to advance.
-Motivation to sell declines year after year, monotonous tasks, order entry, no challenge, nothing new after 2 years.
-Little to no recognition for doing a great job, exceeding sales targets only sets your bar higher the next year and you are expected to perform, "Good job... you can still do better" is all you get.
-Japanese business culture applies here, women are treated poorer than men, unnecessary meetings, atmosphere of Japan corporate - don't take time off, don't take your vacation / sick leave is implied but not outright said.
-Branch managers vary greatly and can run the branch like a tyrant. I have heard horror stories. Some feel like a king in a castle.
-99% of Branch managers / upper management are Japanese men from a traditional Japanese working culture background very resistant to change.
-Proprietary software is buggy and lacks motivated development teams, do not ask for suggestions or feedback.
-Suggestions for software development fall on deaf ears.
-Yelled at by customers for being out of stock takes a toll after years and years.
-High warehouse worker turnover, low competency, warehouse mistakes make so much extra work your main role becomes damage control. No time / room to prospect new accounts because of this. (Shorts, damages, mispicks, credits, out of stocks)
-Upper management is nowhere to be seen, no transparency, annual letters from CEO feel like meaningless lip service.
-Under 5 years of service you get very little vacation paid time off. Taking vacation is very hard to do.
-Inventory is grueling and dangerous.
-They do not fire toxic employees, HR is non existent and hard to approach.
