Don't Do IT

Pros

lots of free stuff - gift cards, jerky, t-wolves tickets.

Cons

If you are considering a job at jack link's, reconsider. The company culture is bizarre - misogynistic, mistrustful and small minded. Don't ignore the company's Minneapolis reputation. And don't think that because there are a few positive Glassdoor reviews the negative ones aren't true (they are). Turnover is very high for a reason. Jack link's likes to believe its culture is trendy and cool. It is - if trendy and cool includes sexism and intimidation.

Cautionary tale

Pros

Fellow employees come from all different backgrounds and are fun to work with. That will help in a very hectic environment.

Cons

Note: this is in the Minneapolis corporate office. 401k is 1% match. Pay is nowhere near competitive to other Minneapolis retail companies. Turn over, and I cant stress this enough… is EXTREMELY high. People often don’t make it to a year. Upper management (grown men) act like teenage boys during companywide meetings. Literally on stage. Its uncomfortable at best. This is not a company you grow in. There is no career path. They like to hire from outside for upper level positions. Unfortunately those hires don’t stay long. You’ll end up covering for positions above you for extended periods of time.

Sexist, toxic culture

Pros

Cool brands, growing category. Jerky.

Cons

Every negative review that has talked about the sexist, ignorant, old boys club is true, and worse. People are pressured and manipulated to stay quiet about the true nature of the culture, or they leave. Even leadership who appear to have the upmost ethical and moral qualities have been compromised by the lure of bonuses (that never pay out) or career growth (promotions are promised, but rarely happen, or they run you into the ground and force you to quit before then.) If you believe women deserve a fair, ethical and safe work environment, I wouldn't work here. Leadership will give a million excuses for why this narrative exists, but as the saying goes, if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...The culture is truly terrible and toxic, and those that speak up are pushed out. Dissenting opinions are not welcome. The company wants to grow and be seen as "cool and innovative" but won't actually trust or invest in the talent to grow the brands. If you're considering a job in marketing, ask why the industry's best marketing talent has left. Leadership wants doers, not experts. You have zero autonomy to actually do your job. They will bully you into submission. Or those who really care about career growth leave, because they know they can't actually do their best work there.
