Decent benefits. Not a bad place to work if you find an administration that doesn't have their own agenda.

Cons

Frequent changes in curriculum. Don't let teachers "just teach". Always focused on teaching to the "tests".

Helping children/adolescents grow and achieve. Opportunity to change schools and interview with new principals within the same career field Vacation time matches that of students- 2 weeks for Xmas, 1 week for Thanksgiving, 2 months off for summer, etc...

Cons

Limited pay Advanced degrees and experience do not give significant opportunities for advanced pay A major lateral move from classroom teacher to guidance counselor resulted in no increase in salary
