Pros

Overall Deere is a great company to work for. The 401k match is second to none. There area lot of development opportunities and room for growth

Cons

2020 - current leadership changes and layoffs with the new strategy directly conflict with the "how" I've always come to expect with Deere.

Pros

Flexible Time work schedule as long as you get your hours in and meet the project deadlines. High paying salary in a low cost of living area. Leadership does have strong values and integrity. Very stable business structure. Challenging work, and interesting projects. They support & provide all the developmental learning necessary and encourage employees to continually close any knowledge gaps. Good allotment of vacation and holiday time off. Full tuition aid for advanced degrees Pension is still available

Cons

Benefits have been fading over the years. Less 401k matching, less health insurance coverage, bonus structure is continually adjusted putting it further and further out of reach and reducing the benefit. They promote a Work/Life balance, but the culture looks down on it and it's an unspoken rule if you want to get ahead and move up the career ladder it is expected to work more and more hours. Rewards employees for correcting issues and fixing failures vs. developing behaviors to prevent problems or promoting positive results. Been a recent push for "efficient engineering" practices. AKA reduced staff with more work and responsibilities. Leads to early burnout from a highly demanding, intense, and stressful atmosphere. Engineers are given all the responsibility to get projects to production, but have none of the authority to drive the supporting teams to meet their task requirements. Most of the engineering support staff has been outsourced overseas. "Design Engineers" are really just project coordinators and project managers.

Pros

Decent bonuses, vacation, holiday, benefits, and pension. Management invested and has kept the organization afloat during tough times in the agriculture industry. Focus on R&D, Agile, and software XP practices was good in my division. The concern about quality and innovation is there.

Cons

Limited opportunity for pay grown and career advancement. Started with low base salary and title, that never improved other than the first few years of annual increases. It was almost impossible to not leave the company when I got a decent offer outside the company. Lower level management churn was large and frequent, and you can get lost in the shuffle.
