Great People, Poor Experience

Pros

Your co-workers are probably going to be the best and you'll be friends for years after leaving the company. Tattoos, piercings, crazy hair? All ok as long as its not offensive. The company has a decent structure and runs smoothly most of the time. If you love shoes, you'll love this place.

Cons

Sometime favoritism is shown in the higher ranks which leads to a poor job experience at the lower levels. If you cant make a move, as there will be no compensation, the company would prefer to fire you through job abandonment routes rather than work with you or find a different solution. Managers get commission however not in a fair or equal way. Managers, be prepared to work 60 hrs a week without a reflection in paycheck.

Pros

As long as you have a pulse you can get a store. At that point it's a great place to learn. You experience all types of customers, deal with inventory, cash, and employees. For those with no management experience, Journeys is a great stepping stone. After leaving Journeys you'll laugh at your new boss when he asks if it's alright to give you 3 hours of overtime. 43 hours? BAH! I use to work at Journeys, schedule me for 60 boss!

Cons

For myself, the pay wasn't worth the time. Journeys works on a rotating schedule where the manager and co manager trade Sundays off every week. Basically, you get off every other Sunday, which ends abruptly when sales or holidays come around. Then during the week you have one day off, which is the other person's double. Makes for an average 45-55 hour work week. Simply put, this job can consume your life.

Pros

Great place to learn how to run a retail shop. Good people. Pay comes to those who work hard. Good product, many locations, promote within, many directions one can go once you have your foot in the door.

Cons

Long hours, commission base pay is though for a co manager to really learn and make personal sales. Beware you will be on your feet a long time!
