Pros

Discount is $50 dollars of 40%. Say you got a ninty dollar pare of shoes and you use the 40%, you get $36 dollars taken off which leaves you $24 left in discount money. ( it does add up over the months)

Cons

So when working at journeys you have a weekly goal. If you make your goal, you get the 4% of each sale you get. But if u dont. Then u get paid 7.25. It’s unorganized. If your not aggressive, your sale will get taken by someone else. They do not care about your availability because the schedule doesn’t revolve around your schedule. ( a manager told me). If you want to work somewhere where it feels like family. Don’t work here. It feels like your fighting for every sale that you make. It may seem like a good thing in the beginning, but your going to realize it’s a mess in the end. Also just to be clear, you make $7.25 OR commission.

Pros

The shoes were nice, I guess.

Cons

I quit this job after two weeks due to horrific stress from unreasonable sales. This is retail, not a P.C. Richard and Sons. I was 5 years older than my store manager, who was only promoted because he was super good at selling and had no management experience. I thought I was going into a management role, and they expect managers to just sell at all times. Most retail stores have sales goals, but to pay you a commission based on that is ridiculous. I was told I didn't smile enough, and during the busy period, which is back to school, I worked over 100 hours in two weeks. Also, because my manager was "best buds" with his employees, there was no punishment or reporting of any bad behavior. I quit after an employee came to work visibly stoned and the manager did nothing about it to report his behavior. I don't expect a place that employs a bunch of teenagers to be "all about the rules" but there's gotta be SOME rules at least.

Pros

The only pro to working here was the discount.

Cons

Training: "Here stand at this computer and watch these video, and by watch I mean don't really watch, because they're dumb, but you have to answer the questions." - verbatim what my manager told me my first day. So, overall you don't really learn how to do anything - you only learn by doing. Working / Environment: Once you kind of learn the groove the work becomes easier, but knowing how many goals you have to met is overwhelming as the numbers made no sense and had to be memorized. Some days I felt like I did great, but didn't make any goals. Every month you have to fill out a sheet saying why you didn't made you goals and what you can do better on, I felt like a child getting in trouble with my 1st grade teacher. Overall, I feel as though I was never a part of the "family" that my manager claimed the store was. I always felt like the new girl despite watching people get hired after me,; although, most of them ended up quitting. Pay: You must meet goals to get paid well. Leaving: I left for college with the intent of coming back to the store over breaks, and I told my managers this. When I was at college, my store manager changed and I was removed from both of our work group chats without reason - not very professional.
