Pros

The good part is if you have a sincere desire to help children, you can do that.

Cons

Management does little to facilitate communication and harmony within the office. You are pretty much on your own. Corporate refuses to deal won the coast branch in a timely manner, so help there is limited as well. Mostly you stumble blindly and hope and pray you do the right thing. If there is a conflict, upper management in spineless and take ma a "don't rock the boat approach". The training is utter bs and not helpful. Most is a huge waste of time and had little /no bearing on working with kids with severe behavioral issues. CPS training is absurd and worthless for the most part for the crap you are expected to tolerate.

Pros

Training, collaboration with other agencies in the area, local manager very present, does listen to concerns and upfront with expectations.

Cons

As another post states, jobs are always on the line, you as an employee are replaceable. Management is easily manipulated because they wont go further than the person bringing them a problem and of course, there solution. Services to clients are not therapeutic, adopted theories and policies are ignored but as long as the paperwork is complete, its workable.

Pros

The work with clients was rewarding. Compensation was on the low side, management acknowledged it. Benefits were ok, health, vision, dental, life, retirement but coverage was on the low end. Some of the people working there are dedicated. Earned leave was compensated when you leave.

Cons

Management doesn't care how they treat their employees. They say they are important - but in reality everyone is always on the edge of being fired. If a problem arises, someone always gets blamed. Image is the most important thing because of the grant and donation money. The Board is hand-picked so they don't make any waves. Management has no idea about the amount of time required to do the actual day-to-day work, so they continually believe that most employees are wasting time and the management continues to bury them in more paperwork.
