Pros
I've worked at several employers in my field and I left a very good job to come to Keiter. It was a smart move. If you are a new person thinking of walking in our door understand the expectations are high and rewards are there for meeting and exceeding those expectations (that means the quality of your work instead of just the quantity). This is not a cushy government job where you can skate by with mediocre performance. You should come here for the challenge and the opportunity, not the 401K plan or the PTO or the health insurance (all of which are just fine but also readily available at most firms). This firm believes very strongly in client service, both to our external clients and our internal clients. We are expected to go above and beyond in both areas, that has always been the secret to Keiter's sauce. So come here because you excel at what you do and are seeking opportunities, not because you heard we are a top *place* to work in Richmond. What makes us a top place to work in Richmond is the *people* who work here, not the building or the location or the benefits package or any of those myriad other things you will find anywhere. No one loves their work every day, however I love my work most days (and especially after the difficult Busy Season ends, this is public accounting after all). The people are one of the biggest reasons why. Our COO does not get nearly enough credit for the burden she carried during the renovation project, none of us had to do what she did while also having to manage the 30 or so folks on the administration side of the house. The criticisms on this site seem very unjust to me.
Cons
I wish the 401K plan were structured differently. I hate Innsbrook traffic. It would be nice if Citrix was better than it is. It works, but no one is in love with it.
