Pros

Beautiful hotels. Inspiring atmosphere to work in. A lot of the company's focus is on art. A lot of really cool pieces around the property and if any employee in any department sells a piece to a guest, the employee gets a commission.... That's really cool! There was a great orientation that made it seem like the company's head is in the right place.... Unfortunately there was very little follow-through after orientation day to keep the ideas in action.

Cons

I worked in the restaurant, and as far as the particular hotel I worked in, the management was severely unorganized. They were also angry, stressed, and nearly panicked almost all the time. I only worked there 1 winter and nearly all the management and staff turned over. It is also hard to work with corporate to get much needed things like new signage.... The restaurant was tucked away and therefore proper signage would have been a HUGE help... Corporate did not allow this to happen or even seem to have an interest in fixing the problem. In a resort village at peak season... Occupancy should NOT have been an issue.

An extended exercise in ineptitude.

Pros

It's at least a building block to working in a luxury hotel. A bunch of your other sort of entry-level co-workers can be pretty enjoyable as well.

Cons

Complete lack of initiative and drive by department managers. For months now, my property has severely understaffed. Perhaps this wouldn't be the case if the entire HR department wasn't empty for a month (and counting!). Many managers are quick to ignore advice and ideas, and even quicker to treat you like a child every day. I'm spoken down to on a daily basis....and people wonder why some parts of the property have no morale...

Pros

You to work in beautiful environments and meet a lot of different people and bond over your hatred of your boss.

Cons

Upper management rarely higher from within so there is no motivation to work harder to get a better position. They always search from outside and bring in someone who doesn't understand that culture and inevitable burns out. HR likes to enforce rules for certain people and not for others, so make sure you get in tight with the right people.
