Pros

Beautiful hotels with potential.

Cons

Lack of accountability Lack of experienced leadership Art based hotels. Owners are focused on purchasing art and property than maintaining the buildings. High turnover rate. I was the fifth person in my management position in 1.5 years. The companies promote "friends" and "family to VP positions. These people are not exactly experts, they are just given jobs that are learned along the way. For some reason management believes that the same policies and staffing levels work for all the different hotels. 401k at the hotel in Savannah is matched only if the entire company is profitable. This will never happen because 2-3 hotels are supported by the revenues of the profitable hotels.

Insincerity and Distrust Reign Supreme

Pros

Hotels are beautiful, many co-workers are wonderful, good intentions.

Cons

Lack of follow through, programs and initiatives not fully thought out before launched, lots of distrust particularly with Corporate and among managers -- culture creates this atmosphere. Southern hospitality is a veil for insincerity particularly in HR. Intent seems to keep people in line, add more and more protocols, more and more rules -- has a boomerang effect; people rebel and feel unsupported. Base salaries are horrendous esp when combined with the hours you are expected to give. Not a place for anyone with a life outside of Kessler -- must be willing to dedicate your life and soul to making someone else money. Health plan is ridiculous -- bare minimum to meet the federal regulations that most employees could not afford.

Horrible Management & HR

Pros

There are not really any pros to working for this company unless you consider being worked to death and underpaid, yelled and sworn at are positives.

Cons

Never enough staff because they all realize how horrible it is and leave. HR has way too much power and is a damage to the organization rather than a help. They inspire with fear and intimidation and they do not have any respect for work life balance. They want you to give up your life and then they throw you out on the street after they have had enough of you.
