Pros

Great people. I formed some great relationships and truly miss a lot of people there. A lot of the managers used to care about their employees, but upper management was making it increasingly hard to do that when I left.

Cons

Ridiculously bad work-life balance, sub-par salary, extreme lack of respect from director in dev services. I essentially got a 30% raise to take a demotion at another company, I'm working far less hours, and I'm well-respected. It wasn't uncommon for me to work 60+ hours a week and still get yelled at by the director, who was adamant that our team was actually overstaffed and we were just being lazy. New ideas were highly discouraged and eventually outright barred. Salaries have not improved, despite what some of these reviews are saying--I've talked to the people still there, and I don't know anyone who's happy. Due to the low pay and extreme turnover, many of the newer employees couldn't do the work that was needed, so the work always fell on their top performers, who were overworked, unsupported, and severely underappreciated. New management is trying hard to turn things around, but they're doing that by removing benefits and pushing people harder--things that were already a problem. Avoid dev services like the plague.

Appreciate your feedback and we always take criticism as ways to improve. I also am very sorry that your experience here was not to your satisfaction. Let me address a few of your concerns: We understand that pay will always be a sensitive topic. While I don't know your specific situation, we are continuing to evaluate pay scale, benefits, and work life balance. We have made improvements in many areas, but in your situation it sounds like it was not addressed to your satisfaction. For that I am sorry.. Regarding work life balance. We have and are continuing to make investments in tools and technology that we believe will lesson some of the manual tasks that employees do everyday. This should allow everyone to focus more on strategic opportunities with our partners and less on manual processes. I will say that I am very proud of our management team, and hear from many employees about the progress and energy we have today. We will strive to get better everyday! I wish you all the best in your new endeavor. Steve

Pros

Positive daily work environment, casual work environment, fun culture, good health/dental/life benefits, immediately vested in 401K investments/match, summer flex Fridays, Holiday Week PTO, leadership that is now seeing that it is time to focus back on taking really good care of our people.

Cons

Inconsistencies: (Examples) Leadership strength varies greatly, some managers are the best you could possibly want, and others should NOT be leaders of people. Communication of HR information lacks consistency, some things you will get 20 emails about and other items you find out after the fact through the grapevine.

Yes, change has been happening. And very happy you are going to stay. While I think we have an outstanding company today, the changes will continue to evolve PlattForm to an even better company. I am committed to this!! I also appreciate your comments on communication and leadership. We are continuing to develop our leaders with training and working really hard on consistent communication. This is always a hard thing to do for many growing companies, but we agree we need to get better. I am open to get more feedback on your thoughts and would love to meet face to face. Send me a note to my email steve.fireng@plattform.com. In the meantime thanks for your time here at PlattForm (wow over 10 years!!) and look forward to hearing your thoughts to continue to improve our company. Steve

Pros

There are some very good people employed there. Built good relationships. They try hard to afford you opportunities to be trained and mentored. (Although not well executed) I have taken a few skills with me to my next job.

Cons

The initial pay is significantly below market. It's not competitive. The jobs may have marketing related titles, but those interested in marketing will often be dissatisfied with the responsibilities they are given. The benefit of free health care is positioned as being a part of your salary. The CEO even said such in a luncheon with new employees. However, the health care is a below average plan. It would be worth it to work for a few thousand dollars more somewhere else (which isn't hard) and pay into their plan. The overall benefits package is sub par. Time off was below average. Taking a lunch was more or less discouraged in my department. The proclaimed dynamic culture falls on it's face, and winds up feeling more like high school than corporate culture. You will have a hard time finding time to play ping pong or pinball. Too much to be done. Your professional growth is limited to the compartmentalized responsibilities of one job function. You have to start all over again in a different position to really gain experience in other areas. This limits your opportunities outside of the company in regards to promotions. If you're an SEO Specialist at PlattForm, it'll be hard for you to develop other skill sets. You'll have to take a step back somewhere else to really learn those skills, or laterally within the company at a lower than average salary.

First of all, I appreciate your comments. Second, I apologize that you did not have a great experience at PlattForm. I believe in our leadership, culture and our tremendous growth opportunity, but I understand that we are in the middle of a strategy evolution and not everything is buttoned up. Sometimes where you are in your career and where the company is in their trajectory are not a good match. I wish you all the best in your new endeavors. Steve Fireng CEO
