Genuine/Non-Fluff Placement Department Review

Pros

I enjoy the opportunity to work from home and ability to adjust my hours/schedule as needed on most days.

Cons

It makes me sad to feel confident that I cannot trust any of the positive reviews that have been said about the Placement Department at Keypath as of late as word spreads that individuals are asked to complete positive reviews to cover up negative ones. I recommend to keep scrolling through the fluff to find the genuine reviews of those who provided a review here on the true state of the Placement department as a last resort to trying everything else to enact healthy change. To try and keep this review brief, the Placement Department continues to be a sinking ship lead by a group of privileged white leadership members who would rather spend time scolding their department for providing anonymous requested feedback by gaslighting them with "teaching" professionalism values rooted deep in white supremacy, mailing them leis to appropriate hawaiian culture as a "fun theme," continually becoming defensive over any question asked, and expressing personal victimization over reading negative reviews here. The overall consensus of the Placement department non-leadership employees is that of great unhappiness, burn out, and exhaustion from advocating for positive change to a group of managers and leadership team members who can only respond with defensiveness which does not create a space for healthy change and dialogue. If you are considering applying for a role in this department, I strongly encourage you to rethink it and apply elsewhere as the majority of us do not see a light at the end of this tunnel. I can only hope that one day genuine change can exist within this department as I believe many employees will be/are currently seeking new employment opportunities that provide an equitable wage/benefits, opportunities for advancement based off of skills/experience rather than favoritism/lack of following proper HR hiring practices, managers and leadership who take the time to learn their roles in order to best support their supervisees, and non-performative practices to take place that create genuine healthy change to meet employee needs rather than those that create additional tasks.

Pros

The company started out okay. The pay is a little lower than industry standard, but there is more freedom. You work with a specific college and advise students. The pay and benefits meet standards

Cons

It is a very cliquey environment with promotions based on who is 'buddy buddy' with the director. Environment is getting worse, more micromanagement. Small pay increases. It feels a lot like Devry and the 'churn and burn' mentality. Hire a bunch of advisers, burn them out, bring in more advisers; repeat.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this input as we value and appreciate each and every employee. It certainly sounds like you have experienced the company developing at a rapid pace and with that comes growing pains. Although, I am happy that people are getting along well within the Student Support team in the Palatine office, I do wish it wasn’t affecting others in a negative manner. We strive to promote the social culture for all employee morale to be a positive experience and one that is a cut above the rest. To date, I believe we have done a good job at that. Therefore, I would encourage you to talk to your supervisor about departmental activities that may help break down barriers that you’re facing. The Student Support team has had low turn-over since we have opened the Palatine office in Jan 2015, but we are not perfect and always open for suggestions to improve. As I frequently mention, feel free to contact me with any feedback. As some will tell you I am good listener and more specific feedback is helpful for our long term growth. Thanks Steve Thank you.

Pros

I was very excited to start working at Keypath because of it's mission to serve colleges and universities and to increase opportunities for individuals through exposure to education. I urge you to not fall into this facade. There's no real communicated data metrics on number of students enrolled to colleges and universities each year for a reason. This company's mission is to increase profits for itself. The company does a great job of marketing itself through blog posts, social media and other outlets. However, these are not a good representation of the actual day to day in this company.

Cons

This company in the year that I worked here had two rounds of large lay offs. It seems that the company does not have a clear direction of how it plans to navigate the challenging and ever-changing post secondary education space, or does not have transparency communicating it down to employees.

The education industry to going through much change the past several years. And like many in the industry we have had to evolve to stay ahead of trends. Predicting the future is not always an easy task. We have made lots of strategic decisions the past several years. While many of these decisions have worked, some have not (but we continue to learn and evolve). We have communicated our strategy to the company at two separate off-site events and have had several podcast going over our areas of focus. While communication can be difficult we have tried to be as transparent as possible. Sorry your experience was not a positive one and wish you all the best. Steve
