Pros

Growing business. Ambitious company. A few great people.

Cons

It was the only time in my career where I never looked forward to starting work in the morning. Poor onboarding experience - low chance of initial success. High pressure and with very unclear success metric. Many different leaders casting judgement with limited context. Felt like everyone was always fighting for position while pretending to be friends. A lot of turnover and not for everyone. Every job has challenging days, but this was especially bad.

Thanks for leaving a review! It’s our goal to create a supportive environment where team members feel excited to start their day and energized by our ambitious mission. We’re sorry your experience didn’t align with this. Kin’s environment is fast-paced, direct, and dynamic- and may not be a good fit for everyone. Many of our teams rely heavily on cross-functional feedback, collaboration, and adaptability to drive continued innovation for our customers. We appreciate the feedback you provided and will look into ways to continuously improve our onboarding experience. We wish you the very best in your next role and hope you find a great fit ahead!

Pros

The only pro is you don't have to work in the office

Cons

KIN acquired a new agency, Elite Insurance Group. The managers are manipulative and will gaslight you into believing they have your best interests when the facts are they regret purchasing the agency and doing damage control using the agents and taking advantage of them. They are irresponsible with your licenses, time cards, and compensation structure. They are looking to hire more people to pay them less. You will never see a decent paycheck and you're not inbound agents. You will make at least 50 calls a day over and over.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience with our organization. As we continue to build out our company, we are always looking for opportunities to make transitions like this one more seamless for our Kinfolk. We strive to ensure our colleagues feel highly valued and offer competitive pay scales in line with market rates. We are continuously expanding our total rewards program. As a remote-first company, it’s important to us to have competitive salaries for all our roles at Kin. We encourage you to reach out to our People team on the All-Voices platform to share your concerns.

Pros

Most folks are friendly and there are interesting technical challenges. Space to learn and grow.

Cons

Executive leadership is disorganized and refuses to listen to folks with ideas on how to improve. Priorities are not clear and can change at the whim of an exec who wants their work done first. Multiple projects in flight with not enough people to work on them, and no desire to prioritize these projects in a sustainable and realistic way. Some product staff suffer from cognitive dissonance mostly because they have been force into that situation an example is the lack of understanding that asking a dev to "look" at something is essentially making that thing a priority over everything else. Some execs do not embody company "values" and there is no one to hold them accountable. Benefits are basic. Heroism is rewarded.
