Pros

Benefits are good. The Ottawa office, although far from downtown, is a nice space to work in.

Cons

People in the Ottawa region are expected to be in the office the majority of the time but the rules are different for remote employees and in other regions with local offices. Parts of the organization are going through major upheaval to grow. Deadlines are unrealistic, teams are extremely resource constrained, stress is high and some longer tenure leaders have been promoted beyond their capability and are very poor managers as a result.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're in an exciting growth phase and that inevitably comes with change, but we are proud that most of our employees feel they are able to maintain a healthy work-life balance. In our 2022 Engagement Survey, we learned that 96% of employees feel they are an accepted member of their team, 95% say their manager treats them with respect, and 89% would recommend Kinaxis to a friend. We're confident that #PeopleMatterHere is much more than a catchphrase.

Pros

compensation is higher than average

Cons

In-bred mentality, if you haven't been at the company for a long time or did not work at Cognos or IBM, you will not be accepted by senior management team.

Pros

● In general a great culture and some hugely talented people pulling together, which made the overall experience a positive one. ● Competitive compensation and unlimited leave policy (plus Kinaxis Days introduced during COVID and since retained) create a very good work/life balance - which is actively encouraged. ● Remote working and flexible working hours allowed for a more efficient use of time overall (on this point, the company also tried various initiatives to foster team spirit among the remote workforce). ● No micromanagers (that I experienced), with employees trusted to get the job done. ● An opportunity to work with some of the biggest organisations on the planet. ● (Initially) an openness to new ideas and with that, an opportunity to influence change and improvement of internal processes and assets.

Cons

● An overall lack of alignment between the ELT (Executive Leadership Team) and the wider business, with a general feeling amongst many that the ELT really didn't see or understand what was going on 'on the ground'. What often resulted were changes and decisions made and handed down that surprised and frustrated, often including conflicting decisions on hiring strategy and/or org structure that undermined existing teams and seemed to represent a lack of clarity and commitment in the overall strategy. ● The 'People First' culture was absolutely evident for the bulk of my time at Kinaxis, and was a massive plus, but unfortunately once financial targets were missed it very quickly felt abandoned, along with any loyalty to the employee base as a whole. What resulted was huge uncertainty and widespread lack of morale across the organization resulting from the cuts and general turbulence that followed, which, again, the ELT seemed oblivious to. ● Whilst there are a lot of excellent people in place with great ideas and a willingness to execute, hands are too often tied, with too many layers of sign off and slow turning beaurocratic wheels making it difficult to influence and enact meaningful change.
