Pros

One of the best childcare facilities out there! We don't have a cookie-cutter curriculum that we are required to follow every week, but we do have a curriculum to help guide our lesson planning and give us some great ideas. This allows teachers to use their creativity, use their previous experiences and education, and truly have fun working with these amazing children and their families. By getting to use our creativity, Kinderberry employees get to take pride in their work and feel a sense of ownership towards their classrooms. Along with the fabulous kids and families, the staff is great, too. We work four 10 hour days, which is a little tricky to adjust to in the beginning, but having a weekday off each week is fantastic! Heidi and Jackie up front are extremely helpful and are some of the best multitaskers around. They're great at what they do and will always be there to advise when you need it. I know the negative review mentioned the director's 2 year degree, but it left out the 20+ years of experience she's had working in this setting. As long as you're a respectful adult and value Heidi and Jackie's opinions when they give them, there's nothing to complain about. Kinderberry Hill is a sister company of New Horizon Academy, which gives us several opportunities to advance in our career if management of a child care setting is of any interest. Leadership trainings are held at the corporate office annually. Heidi and Jackie will also help you move to a different room if an opening arises and you're interested in that age group.

Cons

Multitasking is a necessity as we don't get a designated prep time in the infant program, but it's manageable. When worse comes to worse, the director and/or operations coordinator will help you out. You're not sways guaranteed to get requested time off, but that's just kind of the field we're in. The director and operations coordinator work VERY hard to help us maintain a healthy work life balance and get our time off, but if several people request the same day off, it's a first come first serve situation.
