Pros

Great co-workers and travel opportunities make this a great place to work. Supervisors understand the importance of a work-life balance.

Cons

Often difficult to get necessary tools or equipment to do the job properly, as penny pinching is commonplace.

It has been a great learning experience.

Pros

Its great to start out here in the environmental industry because unlike other companies they allow junior level staff to write reports and participate in in the process of determining remedial strategies for sites. There is a culture of learning unlike other companies I have worked for. There is an expectation for employees to try things they may not have done before and to feel comfortable asking questions without fear of being taken off of a task.

Cons

The unit price system is difficult to get used to making it important to keep track of your time while in the office to 15 min intervals. This makes the task of completing your time sheet at the end of each day take sometime 30 min (which is not billable). The learning curve is discouragingly overwhelming at first with many policies to become accustomed to but if you talk to others you'll learn they experienced the same issues at first and overcame them. It is also a bit demeaning for a mid to senior level person with field experience to have to be "trained" to become "qualified" in common field tasks by junior level staff with less experience. Its all well intentioned, just something to get used to.

Pros

-Work on large projects, including private, local, State and Federal work -Okay benefits -Okay employee stock allocation (if you last 5 years to be fully vested)

Cons

-Low moral and a general feeling of discontent among the majority of employees -To stay for the long hall at Kleinfelder you absolutely have to toe the line, join the 'old boys club', and become an owner, which requires singing the praises of the company at all times. -Questionable ethical practices that have resulted in the company being excluded from numerous municipal entities; mostly regarding the companies opaque billing practices. -Poor senior management and constant restructuring -Very bureaucratic with an obvious distrust of employees
