Detached Leadership Masquerading as champions of Community
Pros
- Engaging projects - The team is composed of talented and kind individuals, though the constant threat of layoffs has understandably created a tense atmosphere. - Remote work was permitted for a period of time. - Leadership maintained an outward appearance of respect, yet consistently misled employees, promising "no more layoffs" while initiating six rounds of layoffs since the beginning of the year. - The middle management team was exceptional but has since been entirely dismissed.
Cons
I once witnessed a senior leader praise an artist for their work, only to lay them off the following day. Employees were mandated to return to a large, mostly empty office, only for the company to lay off the remaining staff there over the course of several months. Layoffs have been executed with little regard for timing, including just days before holidays, such as three days before Christmas. To emphasize: employees were laid off right before the holiday season. Perhaps most concerning, the company is continuously seeking ways to cut costs, including outsourcing work to international artists rather than retaining current staff. In addition, they were found to have paid for fake positive reviews online.
