Overpromising, glass ceiling, work-life balance problems

I was promised the opportunity to work with a lot of different things; never materialized. I feel like my skillset didn't grow at all during my time at Known, even though I was constantly looking for chances to learn. All upper management is male; women get stuck in middle management and then never get promoted. Work-life balance is non-existent; when I left "on time" it was really bad optics, and I'm sure was a factor in reviews, even though not explicitly stated. Upper management talked a huge game about growth, then had 4-5 rounds of layoffs, without any communication to the teams about what was going on. Perks were not given equally to all offices. My reason for being let go was officially "not enough work" but there were several projects in the pipeline, and several in process that were already understaffed. I feel sorry for my co-workers who had to take up the slack.

the media activation team is completely fake

Pros

high pay and comp in general with many gifts (probably meant for retention since at least one person left the team every month that I was there)

Cons

fake data science posting for a role that was all about digital media management. VPs and directors are arrogant and think their ivy league degrees in completely irrelevant subjects will keep them safe and make them good leaders though they don't know a thing about media or data science - it all trickles down from the clueless CTO who doesn't know anything either. claim to be doing innovative things but seriously lagging behind the rest of the industry (they don't even know about clean rooms? wow). most of the team complains about work in private meetings and then soon leaves, like I did... and sometimes brings others along on the job hunt. :D

Pros

Free lunch and nice events. New agency, so you are able to contribute to new teams and processes as they are built.

Cons

Consistent problems that do not get addressed by leadership. Almost as if they are delusional or blind to the issues. Big egos that need to be danced around. Clubby vibe at the top that does not benefit the business. Seems to only exist to make senior folks feel cool. Very high churn within underrepresented groups. POC, LGBTQ, women. Especially noticeable at senior levels.
