Pros

- Konrad Group is growing quickly, and there is a real "energy" around the office. This helps foster a fun, lighthearted culture. - There are certainly perks, as many other reviews have noted. Not all of these appeal to everyone, but there seems to be something for most people. - The average age is quite young, contributing to the office's energy and culture. - The work can be quite cutting-edge and exciting. - The Toronto office is extremely well located, with lots going on nearby.

Cons

- Little to no professional development, mentorship, or guidance from mid-senior level leaders. - Management and leadership often fail to admit when they are wrong, or defer blame (to employees, clients, other firms). This is not just certain individuals, but seems to almost be a part of the culture at Konrad Group. - Much of senior leadership has no formal managerial training. - Very little strategic information is disseminated from management down to employees, many of whom care or want to know what the group as a whole is working towards. This can be confusing for employees, who can feel "left in the dark," and gives an impression that not even management knows. - There is no HR system in place. There is absolutely no-one you can go to with concerns or for advice who isn't tied to either your direct supervisor or leadership. - There is also no formal review process. If you want feedback or a formal review, you need to ask for it. Employees are told of "6 month check-ins", but it's up to you to put time on your manager's calendar, or be surprised when you're invited into a room with little to no time to prepare. - Compensation is below industry standards for business-side employees, and at or below industry standards for other employees. - There is no performance-based compensation (bonus, etc.). - Worth noting: The subsidized gym membership mentioned in other reviews will cost you $60-$70 / month.

Pros

The office location and work / life balance is nice. The team members I worked with day-to-day were knowledgable, collaborative, and fun to be around. I'm grateful that I had an incredible team lead who I was able to learn a lot from. However, your overall experience is fully dependent on who your manager is and which project(s) you are placed on.

Cons

This review only applies to the management and senior leadership at the company, in which the experience I had with them was shocking, saddening, and left me truly embarrassed to have worked here. There was a complete absence of feedback or performance reviews from my manager, offering little to no guidance for improvement or growth. Company policies- from remote work to promotions- are unreliable, illogical, and change on a whim. Employees do not have the ability to provide feedback to others at the company, and there is essentially no HR department. Leadership is stingy- the pay is minimal and there are no bonuses. It's difficult to believe that they actually care about anything outside of protecting their public facade / reputation. The workplace culture is filled with micro-management, suspicious politics, and serves as a prime example of all that's wrong with corporate practices. Most of all, leadership was dishonest and handled situations extremely inappropriately- false information was provided to supervisors and team members, and they are willing to conceal the truth to protect personal interests. Though I genuinely enjoyed and learned from working with my team members, I really can't speak positively towards the management style at this company. In terms of professional growth and opportunities, you'll find little to none here. I don't recommend working here.
