Pros

Family owned, place. They do a lot for their employees. Lots of fun and games to engage employees. Lots of locations but feels like a small company.

Cons

Infastructure needs updating, but they are working on it. Some of the locations need some facelifting, but they are working on that also.

Pros

If you are an underachiever or person who just wants to coast through their job and be mediocre, LP is a good place to be. Managers are largely of average intelligence and not ambitious at all. This provides a lot of room for slacking off and being average in job performance.

Cons

There is nowhere to advance. Leadership acts as though they are movers and shakers that can tell a customer or other business how they will do business with LP. They believe they are the tail and that it CAN wag the dog. Leadership is also non existent. Important information that local management needs to know is held close to the vest at HQ in Chatsworth, CA. They do not trust information with anyone outside of the top executive level. They actually do not trust anyone as can be seen when one visits the main warehouse where the ex-CIA guy checks your ID everyday before work and they record what happens in the parking lot, including what you do in your car. Leadership is also non existent in other ways. My supervisor was the president of one of the divisions and I spoke to him one on one only twice in three years and he almost never returned emails or voice mails. Also, I never got a performance review from him over that time. This is a company that could care less about the people that work for it, they are just tools.

Pros

At least, although obscurely , associated with the interior design field . The hours were terrible , but the pay was horrible .

Cons

The sales person is required to stand on their feet all eight hours . Talking among employees is discouraged and prohibited . Lunch periods are short. The majority of management is from third world countries and has a third world attitude . Salesperson is required to pull orders on a A frame ladder 25 to 30 feet up and bring down merchandise without breaking their neck in a fall . The commission structure is an embarrassment and with the price of gas was not worth the time to go in . It is populated by underacheivers who's goal is to sit around and make more money for the company and exploit employees to the max. After taxes take home was less than $400.00 per week . Sheer desperation is the conditions for employment.
