Lakefield is a newer vet company that is currently buying up established vet clinics. They have proven that their focus is solely on the bottom line and nothing else. Staff is overall unhappy. If you have any concerns or challenge any policy, you are seen as a problem and are usually eliminated, either by firing or by running you off. Their lack of empathy for their employees is more and more apparent. Their upper management don’t listen to the concerns of those on the front line. They respond only to numbers and nothing else. They hire individuals with no veterinary knowledge to fill roles that are directly in control of each hospital which hinders their ability to relate and problem solve effectively. The company has potential, but is lacking in leadership. If you join the team, don’t ask questions and watch your back!

We appreciate the response and feedback from your time at Lakefield. Unlike most veterinary groups, Lakefield reinvests most of our profits back into our hospitals, such as facility expansions, start-of-the-art equipment, and employee programs. Since we are a privately owned company, we are not beholden to outside investors and are keen to listen to our doctors and para-professional team members in our hospitals. This is why we prioritize being a medically driven company and give doctors the total freedom to practice. Our leadership team not only consists of former AAHA members, but we also have a Medical Advisory Board that represents the interests of each of our regions.

Their Talent Acquisition team was wonderful. This department makes you feel heard, valued, and appreciated; however, your individual team may not follow through on the promises and aasurances provided by Recruiting.

Cons

The hiring process is exhausting. You may go through up to four rounds of interviews spanning months. Absolutely callous and unprofessional Human Resources department and Legal department. Think unethical but not illegal. They will sneak hidden land mines into conversations, meetings, and outings in an attempt to get you to step on them for termination cause. They want individuals who are meek, submissive, and overwhelming reserved. If you don't fit their "culture" they will find a way to remove you from it.

Don’t care about their employees regardless how loyal and if you’ve always produced or met their goals. They treat employees like disposable garbage. They give the most stupidest excuses when employees bring concerns to management and NOTHING ever gets done! As I read the majority of poor reviews left here, I see the running theme: THEY RUINED A CLINIC THAT HAD AMAZING STAFF AND DOCTORS THAT GOT IT TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE THEY CAME IN THE PICTURE! This is so true!! The Chief medical officer is a joke, HR is and everyone below is just a toxic toxic work environment. Don’t get fooled with their “family values” it’s all BS. I had never seen such a revolving door with staff turnover until they came in. If the clinic is owned by them RUN!!!
