Very sad to see such a great company implode.

Pros

Great product and still some great people there.

Cons

I worked for the revenue org at LaunchDarkly. This company has a great product that many software engineers rely on. As an employee, the company was very unique and stood out in many ways. One thing that set it apart from every other company I worked for WAS the culture and how they really stood behind the "Work is not life" mantra. People cared for one another and the workplace environment was unmatched in that regard. Pay was below average for that space but it was a fair trade off to have a great work - life balance and great benefits. As the company grew and the economy worsened, changes started to happen there and not for the better. LaunchDarkly has handled tough times and economic downturns in the past with grace and always put its employees first. Then along came a new a new senior leadership in finance and sales (SVP and C-Level). With that came the demise of the one of kind culture that LaunchDarkly once had. Very sad to see that happen. The sales team was/is treated unfairly and some of the new rules that were put into place by this new leadership team are punitive at best. There are more opportunities to lose money than to make money in certain cases. Sales reps pay directly for any loss of business out of their commissions. No matter how old the account is or who sold it. Some great people left (no surprise there) and then came the layoffs. I am sure more great folks are on the way out as well. While I still think that LaunchDarkly is a great product, I am not sure it can recover its once great culture. If it can, it will not be under the current leadership regime.

Pros

You'll work with many talented ICs and peers until they too decide to leave

Cons

-Incredibly high attrition rate, bleeding top talent -Mediocre executive leadership team with no track record of successfully running a company but exceptionally adept at destroying morale unlike anything I've ever seen. No self-awareness or ownership that they are the cause of the attrition. -Eroding benefits over past year, including significant cut to parental leave and higher healthcare benefit costs (amongst many others) -Excessive micromanagement by CEO across nearly all functions, causing a wake of destruction in his path. Constant pivots in direction burning out teams and hindering company growth. No vision, no inspiration. -Other ELT members: will publicly post that remote workers are NPCs who will be replaced by AI, will blame everyone but themselves for subpar sales performance, and will leave a five star review here when they've been repeatedly called out for discriminatory behavior and general incompetence. CFO is decent though. -Worthless equity with low confidence of anything improving

Good software but a very punitive woke culture

Pros

The software is good and has growth potential.

Cons

The leadership cares more about being on the right side of the woke cancel movement than they do their employees.
