Pros

Opportunities continue to appear due to high turnover. Has had some brilliant playful ideas on how to make senior living fun.

Cons

In the years that I worked there I saw the home office continue to go into odd tangents...sponsoring a race car, contemplating creating communities in India, pour money into a travel company. What this boiled down to was that we had an extremely successful community (100%) that the owner never visited, the home office gpt redirected and ignored concerns of the residents and staff. Ultimately, a very bad hire for the General Manager position made key personnel leave, drove census down to under 80%, and in 5 years it still hasn't recovered.

Flashy Facade with little substance

Pros

Good location with easy bus access. Some interesting people. Good health benefits. Average pay. The COO seems like a nice guy who wants to make a difference... yet he is naive enough to share any concerns that are brought up to his attention with his fellow managers and those executive "leaders" within their mean girls' club twist and spread rumors like a wildfire.

Cons

The office space looks like a flashy exhibit where you are constantly on display and under the bright lights. It can be loud and hard to concentrate. The company likes to tout its Three Thirds Lifestyle which may be somewhat achievable in some departments yet in in some others the assigned workload makes it impossible to practice that so called lifestyle. There are semi-mandatory social events and you'll get chastised if you are unwilling or too busy to participate. Most of those events as well as the monthly mandatory meetings generally take place during the busiest time for the Payroll, AP and Accounting departments.

Corporate is becoming a "good 'ole boy's club".

Pros

The communities are nice on the inside//outside and the staff truly care about the residents.

Cons

One bad manager can bring the whole place down. I know of 4 locations that are so badly run that 1/2 of the staff comes to work high on drugs and 2 managers in 1 location that are both married are carrying on with an extramarital affair. Corporate no longer supports the staff. Most managers are uneducated. One comes from the hotel industry and fires everyone that is a threat to her. She is clearly in over her head.
