Pros

Decent work teams, challenging and interesting work.

Cons

Management is incompetent and appear to be AA hires. The office environment/technology is stuck in the 80s. Nepotism is deep. Most are clock watchers that would rather appear to be busy than do any actual work. Micro-management is also an issue. Employees are scared to make decisions out of fear of being fired by their control freak managers. If you have an opportunity outside of this company... take it. You’ll be miserable at DRS.

Some locations are way better than others

Pros

Melbourne has come a long way and the future looks bright. Overall I think people are happy. It seems like the company, at least in my area, actually cares about career development and helping people further themselves instead of locking them into one job.

Cons

Add more PTO time. Splitting up PTO into vacation and sick time really sucked, now only 2 weeks of actual vacation time a year. Certainly not a selling point when trying to attract new talent. There are still a couple departments that are headed by people who think it's them vs the world. On the up side I think this mentality has been on the decline. I think there's a super high level of competitiveness at the C-level which can be good, however I see it really hurt other locations. Some locations are so focused on winning and end up creating a really toxic work environment that creates a cyclical pattern, and then they're left wondering how they got into their current mess.
