Continue to call themselves a startup after almost 3 years. They still have no idea what services they want to offer . They expect you to know automatically how to navigate random apps and software that clients tell us to use right off the bat. No training is involved , and you are penalized if you do it incorrectly. In terms of communication, We were told to enter the same info for project updates into 3 or 4 different platforms , although Lessen had their own but has since laid off all previous IT and abandoned it . They are too afraid to stand up and tell clients - this is what we offer, here are our services, these are our best practices, etc. all focus has been merging with SMS which I believe is now taking over and lessen name will be no more. I’m predicting in a year or less, Lessen will be sold off and Jay will be off on another adventure.

The company is plagued by a corrupt culture and nepotism within upper management. There is a blatant disregard for transparency, fairness and integrity. Decision making is often arbitrary and driven by personal connections rather than merit. In an era where technology enables countless job functions to be performed remotely its disappointing to see a company opting to place its staff in dangerous situations (Downtown Chicago). The company’s compensation structure leaves much to be desired with low pay and a lack of opportunities for cAreer advancement. If you are contemplating joining this company, it is advisable to set a personal timeframe, learn all that you can, and leave around 2 years. They currently follow a hybrid schedule but are planning to transition to a full 5 day work week in the near future.
