Pros

Pension, culture before 2008. Employees are invested in customers. As a now competitor I will say thanks, you make it so easy to get your customers to change.

Cons

Constant shift in key metrics and process. Employees stopped even trying to adopt. Too many reorganizations. Daily fear on front line. Middle managers treated like garbage and blamed for everything. 50 year plus customers paying double what a new client would unless they complain.

Worst two years of my life.

Pros

Decent salary for a young paralegal and the ability to work a flexible schedule. You work 37.5 hours a week, but are paid for 40.

Cons

Several. Having a flexible work schedule that allows you to have one day every other week off, is not worth the garbage you deal with in the PCT. Quantity>Quality is all they care about. The benefits are a joke and their insurance is OUTRAGEOUS. The two years that I worked in the Carmel PCT, I consistently walked on eggshells, feeling as if I was constantly one talk away from being fired. Management is condescending and passive aggressive. They punish you if you speak out, make suggestions, and work harder than the bare minimum. If you do anything above the bare minimum you are reminded that you are just a body warming a seat in a cubicle, inputting information into automatically generated templates. Work is unevenly distributed, as is the quality of leadership. No room for advancement and you will cap out sooner or later. Annual reviews are biased and based solely on the opinion of your coordinator (who oversees 20-30 other paralegals), NOT your work product or the attorneys you actually work for. Also, the legal (insurance) assistants who were promised job security, are being laid off, as the position is being outsourced. Shocked. There are so many other cons that I can think of but I’m getting anxiety thinking about it.

Pros

Telecommuting opportunities. Conscientious counterparts. Accrued vacation time.

Cons

Dishonest, ego-driven, dog-eat-dog management. The good ole’ boys club is alive and well at this company. If you are female, and dare speak truth to power, woe be unto you. Pay for performance is a laughable statement. Only the ‘yes’ employees are provided for. Those who dare to speak their truth and dare I say, do what is actually right, are punished in innumerable ways. Hard work and ethical behavior is not rewarded in the LM of new. Management accountability? Non-existent. Workloads are unbalanced, and for many, simply unmanageable. Management’s response? YOU do not know how to prioritize. Lean, LMS, and I believe the new shiny toy is now now Agile. Empty buzzwords in the absence of meaningful, thoughtful, sustained action.
