Pros

I worked for Locker Room by Lids in Macy's. The only Pro for me was my district manager lived in Chicago, so I could basically do what I wanted. I had a lot of freedom, which I enjoyed.

Cons

The salary was very low for the amount of responsibility you have: 23,000/year. The upper management started off great until sales started slipping. No one wants to buy their merchandise and they refuse to listen to ideas on how to improve things. For example, I worked in Minneapolis and all they sold was Minneapolis merchandise, but I had customers asking for Wisconsin merchandise. They refuse to bring out of state merchandise in, yet blame you for sales being low. If you don't put money in their pockets, they aren't going to like you. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! POOR MANAGEMENT!!!!

Pros

If you're lucky to have a great relationship with your Macy's team; this job can be fun. If you love talking sports this is definitely a job for you. Easy to get promoted.

Cons

Low pay. They do not pay you enough to put up with some of these customers and DM's that micromanage. Lots of dead time. DM's that show favoritism to DSL's they've known longest... Way more useless and repetitive conference cals...

Pros

Surrounded by sports fans and people who are passionate about their job

Cons

Same upper management team has been in place for years as sales have dropped considerably, with no clear direction for the future of team licensed apparel and headwear sales, especially in malls. Most of the executive team has been with the company for years and are basically untouchable, they have never been held accountable for their actions or their results. When times were good they could do no wrong and praised themselves over and over, when times are bad like they are recently, they find fault in all other departments. These executives only look out for themselves and go to extreme lengths to stop any bit of negative information to make its way past them. They tout their company culture as fun and loose, but it's no different then any other large company, it's a far cry from where it was years ago, long time employees all see the difference and are very bummed out by it. It really is sad because it was a great place to work for years, people loved coming to work and now they just dread it. Pay is well below industry standards.
