Pros

On site Gym is outstanding. Teamwork among upper management can be good. But loyalty is questionable.

Cons

as a manager you will have to deal with a union workforce that has no performance standards, no daily metrics, and a very unmotivated team of Supervisors, coordinators, and dock workers. They have been mistreated for so many years it is very difficult to motivate them and nearly impossible to hold them accountable for anything. The HR department is very weak and doesn't support management. Even after 'they' issue disciplinary action they flip and reinstate with pay once a grievance is filed. This practice completely takes away the authority of the management team. The company is in a large downturn and just finished it's 1st wave of layoffs. As a team we worked 50% of our weekends this year and it is only picking up. There tends to be a lot of finger pointing between facilities due to lack of training in the middle and lower management ranks.

Pros

People on the team were great People on the team were willing to work had for the company A few innovative products but leader in their field A few people who liked what they did and were good at it.

Cons

Lack of diversity and this seemed to pose an issue for their understanding of diversity in the workplace "Good Ol" Boys club feeling- if you did not hang out with certain people and do certain things you did not see the same advancement. ( This was true for Sr management, there were individuals who were NOT very skilled to do the jobs that they did . ) Not an idea place for working mothers- hopefully this is something that they are changing but they could have done better here. Had to present a proposal for my role to allow working remotely. (Note, several women with no children were not even working in the same state.) I began looking elsewhere because of this struggle. Observed other employees getting burnt out due to lack of support in their area of work. Compared to other companies, very few people LOVED what they did
