Pros

Can’t think of many pros.

Cons

Patients coming into the office are limited. Very little help from anyone, you just have to figure things out on your own. Angry patients call day in and day out about their bills but that never gets resolved because whoever is in charge of billing never returns messages. Way too much work and stress for very little pay. 8 hours a day 5 days a week dealing with people asking questions that no one else answers. Not worth it in any sense at all. As a mental health company, I would have hoped there would be more care and thought put in, and time given to patients. There isn’t and the only priority for this company is money. I would never recommend anyone looking for help to come here.

Do not even think about it!

Pros

After working for them for 9 months, there are no positives other than having the experience of working with other excellent mental health providers that unfortunately have also left the practice.

Cons

-Toxic environment and culture -Clients complain about billing discrepancies that as a provider I could not resolve. Calling the billing department is close to impossible because nobody answers the phone. - Because they hire individuals who do not have any mental health background, the support staff in the clinic is rude to clients on the phone and even face-to-face. They have no idea how to handle a client in crisis. -There is limited communication with clients when they are onboarded and this results in cancellations or no-shows. -This new contract that you have to sign with LifeStance pretty much makes you an indentured servant. The recruiters make things sound lucrative with the Revenue Value Unit model they use. They promise a 6 month advance on your salary while you build your practice. They promise that you will have a good patient load within 6 months so you will break even, and do not have to pay them back the salary advance. They omit to tell you that you are competing with the other 100 providers in the area for the same pool of patients. They also do not give you a clear idea of how much you will make per patient visit because the sheet they show you only show averages of the ideal scenario. -The company does not care about the retention of providers because there is another naive soul around the corner who will take their job offer. My advice: If you have to accept the job offer because you need a job, have the lawyer go over the contract to explain things. If you sign the contract, do not take the advance.

Pros

They give you an office

Cons

For starters, the pay is an outright lie. You will NOT likely receive the pay advertised. Their compensation is a joke. Seriously, go anywhere else. Their contract is terrible, if you leave within three years they will make you repay your bonus by withholding it from your next paychecks. You will be paid "state minimum wage" at that point. They do NOT care about you and they don't even pretend to. They don't care about leaving you scrambling to pay bills. Their EHR is a joke and goes down multiple times per day, so good luck doing notes in a timely manner. Stay far, far away from this place. There's a reason there are several lawsuits tied to them. This is the only place l've worked that l've felt actually miserable and trapped. LifeStance is unethical, for both the clinician and the patient. They can't keep front desk staff so if you need support with scheduling, or anything else, you're often on your own or waiting for long periods of time to get assistance. Oh, and they won't give you PTO/sick leave. They only started giving it in my area very recently when the state mandated it. And their offer for it sucked. There's no base salary either. Don't be fooled into thinking there is one. There's no reason to work here if you aren't completely desperate. This is what it looks like when you try to make mental health care into a greedy, corporate game.
