Pros

The people - best, brightest, kind

Cons

Agree with others - Negotiate high pay to start, you will not move up fast They only promote based on who you are close to, not based on any type of leadership skill They are not innovative and ONLY worry about return to shareholder these days, Absolutely no real return to invest in employee growth, satisfaction, or retention. Most importantly - they want you to stay where you are - managers are not encouraging for you to find your true calling, they do not help you move up at all. Managers are not leaders at all, they just manage.

Pros

There are a lot of good things about Lighthouse, diversity and inclusion are great, there is a degree of work/life balance that is nice if you can take it and there are some great people to work with. Overall, not bad place to work if you want some stability or just a nice change from a law firm or other vendor.

Cons

One thing I can say is if you start working here, negotiate high cause you are not likely to get much more than inflation after without a significant change in your position. Otherwise, a pay raise requires having some major friends on your side. The longer you are here, the harder it gets and it’s rough to see people with half your experience and skills making thousands more. People have left just to come back months later with a higher salary. This may sound like complaining, but when you see it happen again and again, it is a pattern that is hard to ignore. Making waves or ruffling feathers, even in the best possible way, won't benefit you much. You won't necessarily be penalized but without the right people in your corner you won't get much consideration. Opinion and how you are seen goes way further than actual work and outcomes, but that can be said for many companies. This is not just with your direct manager, cross department and skip level can often be just as important. Expect to be spending a lot of time trying to "Build your brand", half the time it’s more important than any sort of technical ability or experience you have. Expect to keep selling yourself for the course of your employment here, resting is for the retired. If you like to test, explore, build, or create, this is not the company for you, it’s a battle to get anything done. A good idea may get explored, but is often left behind, and never gets updated with the market.
