Sexist work environment

Pros

I enjoyed working from home, I liked the challenging environment with many innovations to explore and learn about. They make a big deal out of culture, they truly try to make employees feel seen with the bday shout-outs and stuff, I'm pretty laid back but I did see that it had a good effect on others which was nice. I was free to log off at the same time pretty much everyday which was a super plus for me.

Cons

I had to jump from the tower and swim for it at Lighthouse because my managers were sexist. I was the only female on a team of all males and my director was covertly demeaning and sexist towards me. In 1on1 calls my director would say things like "turn on the charm when possible", "try to be a little softer",  "really bring that energy to client calls". He pressured me to lead with overt feminine qualities, and it is my belief that he hired women specifically for this purpose. He also volunteered women to do most of the training, I guess because we're natural nurturers or something. I have also heard the associate director openly speak of hiring women to be "work-horses", I have never heard him speak of men this way. A work-horse is a grunt, someone who slaves away at an endless to-do pile. The males on my team enjoyed a lot of light lifting when it came to assigning projects. When I left I was burnt out with 15 matters assigned to me and with no support, my male colleagues had between 1-7 matters with full support, that support mostly being with each other. When I was hired, another woman on the team randomly quit without giving a reason and it surprised everyone. When I spoke with the 2nd female PM after she was let go she told me about my director's sexist remarks to her and that she reported it, then I realized all 3 of us likely had the same issues, but only she spoke up about it, obviously it didn't do any good. Eventually, I also quit without giving a reason. I'm sure these men will never be seriously investigated, they have big inviting smiles with a lot of questionable caveman behavior.

Pros

Nice employees and decent benefits

Cons

Senior execs do not care. Got rid of 7.5% of staff under the guise of slow growth outlook, following week doled out promotions, hefty raises & bonuses among themselves, making the announcements on LinkedIn.

Pros

- Invested in training - PTO was a fair trade considering compensation was surprisingly low

Cons

This company cannot be trusted…. - If you are planning to work for this company or hire this company, think about how they treat their employees first - Was specifically assured of no layoffs, then a whopping 25% of department was cut, 7.5% of the whole company - Brutal, insensitive handling of layoffs by management, and a complete disregard for how this impacts people’s lives, wellness, families and futures - New CEO has effectively destroyed many years of company culture, trust, and reputation within a matter of months
