Pros

- you can really see the kids improve over time which can be really satisfying - every hour is different because you get a new kid - one-on-one tutoring enables you to build strong connections with the kids - I almost cried tears of joy after the kid finally was able to spell "pout" after two months of trying to get her to understand the difference between "ou" and "au" - kids vary in severity. you can have a blast and a favorite kid who gets it and improves or you can get a severely autistic kid who wants to pet all the plants outside and not come in for a break. but the good part is that the kids are rotated among clinicians and if you are having a horrible time with a kid, you can switch out if you ask nicely

Cons

- can be very draining if you are not a patient person - had a kid scream, tear our her hair, call me ugly, throw things at me, spit all over the desk, and chew on her chair when she got frustrated (like I said, if you are not a patient person, this job will be hell sometimes) - sometimes you will teach a kid vowels every day for an entire summer with the same practice and not see improvement (like I said you need lots and lots of patience)

Pros

Was a good learning experience and working with the kids with different behavioral dynamics was very educational.

Cons

Pretty much everything. Disorganized scheduling, no coverage, working off-site is an absolute horrible experience, I had a coworker get robbed at gunpoint on her way to an elementary school in the morning. Off-site staff do not get any behavioral intervention training and have to learn to deal with children with severe behavioral issues without any support.

Pros

The people are awesome, the kids are fun, and the company sometimes sends you on trips to work at other centers!

Cons

The only downside is that the hours aren't super consistent since our students come and go.
