Pros

Most of the coworkers are kind.

Cons

Are you looking for a company that invests in its employees? This isn't it. LMB's benefits are atrocious. They currently do not match employee's retirement due to poor financial decisions made on their part. Their "merit pay" is the cost of living increase. If you request full-time, do not expect to be working full-time. If hours are "slow" you'll be working part-time. LMB considers themselves a school when it's convenient, and a business when it's not. Leadership encourages professional development, yet there is no compensation for taking on new responsibilities until you've become a mentor. Do not expect to make it to the level of mentor, consultant, ACD, etc. unless you are a yes-man who is content with looking the other way and has found a way into leadership's clique. That job posting stating you would help kids read? True. Expect to also be their teacher during the school year, even though that was not in the job description. Expect to take on more titles and work-load without being compensated. Leadership is built by power-hungry people. LMB doesn't take the type of person into account when promoting them to a managerial position. Some higher-ups promote talking poorly about other clinicians during pacing meetings, and therefore other leadership follows. If you ask the important questions, you will be pushed back into your "place". Expectations are diverse amongst all employees. Expectations are based on the friendships you've made with instructional leadership. LMB does not train its employees on behavior. If you do not have an educational background, it may be difficult to help deescalate and redirect students. While the students are lovable in so many ways, your experience with behavior will be trial by fire. Some consultants are quick to receive feedback and will implement ideas given by clinicians, while others will not, (or want every good idea to come from them). LMB is money-hungry. Every single decision is based on money, not the student's best interest. If the thought of money-hungry businesses disguised as schools upsets you, do not work here. If you love working with kids, I encourage you to do so. Please don't let LMB poison that love. Find work somewhere else.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Lindamood-Bell. Several descriptions conflict with Lindamood-Bell company policies and protocols. For example, Lindamood-Bell currently offers a 401K match—it was reinstated in May of 2023. Regarding student behavior, we provide ongoing training on how to help students stay on task, and our instruction department provides additional support for students who need an individualized plan for engaging in sessions. While our organization may not have been a right fit, we regret that our core philosophy was unclear during your employment. We strive to provide a positive work environment, treating all individuals respectfully, offering sensitivity, and valuing each other. We wish you the best of luck in the future. Pros

- About 90% of your fellow teachers are really great and easy to work with. - About 90% of the students are good kids who are not too difficult - If you want to advance within the company, you can do so very quickly.

Cons

- Sexual harassment both by fellow teachers and students towards employees is excused and essentially allowed. I experienced this at my location and also heard about MANY instances from employees at other locations. - Students can basically treat teachers however they want because their parents are paying an exorbitant amount of money for them to be there. See above. - Nanci Bell is averse to change in any way, even positive change. Most of the materials are from the 80's and extremely outdated. She also seems to not care at all about her employees' well-being, putting money before everything else. - LMB charges INSANE amounts per hour for their services. I personally believe the Seeing Stars program changes lives, and charging the amount they do gatekeeps this education from LOTS of kids who really need it. Morally, I cannot agree with this. - For the crazy amount they charge their clients, Clinicians and other employees don't see much of it. We dealt with a LOT of students who, while good kids, had SEVERE behavior issues, and most of us had no training at all in this regard. We were NOT paid adequately for all the complex issues we were asked to deal with on a daily basis. - I was only part-time for disability reasons, and even then I could barely function outside of work because I was SO exhausted. You barely have a break in your day except for your 1hr lunch, which I found was cut short a lot due to students arriving early and needing adult supervision. - The reason you can advance so quickly within the company is that the turnover rate is very high, and for good reason. See the above cons.

Pros

- friendly and fun coworkers - great kids - strong researched based reading strategies

Cons

- very seasonal staff with very limited experience working with children and who often don't take on any additional responsibility for upkeep of the office which can be dirty and disorganized - time clocks seem unfair when not give any minutes to set up or check out and all employees have to do the time clock at the same minute
