Glad that you are taking advantage of one of the fantastic benefits that Loram offers. Although you state that being away for 6 weeks at a time is a negative, this type of schedule "6/2", meaning 6 weeks working, then 2 weeks off, is part of the job description and is covered during again during the interview process. I am assuming that you answered that this would be an acceptable schedule for you, or you would not have received an offer of employment. I hope that you enjoy your two weeks off. Many of our employees use this time for family vacations, hunting/fishing trips or for projects around the house. I hope that you find a good use for your time off as well.

Thanx for your comments about the family like atmosphere - we work very hard to achieve this type of culture at Loram. Even though Loram does not do any work in the community, we have a strong belief that we ARE part of the local community and do whatever we can to make it a better environment for the residents.

Although you state in your comments that Loram does not offer per diem, you fail to mention that your all of your hotel and travel expenses are covered by Loram. The company flies you home for your two weeks off of work, then flies you back to the work location after your time off. The only expenses you have on the road are your personal items and food. Many Loram workers are able to save a considerable amount of their paycheck each period, as they are not spending money on other items that they would otherwise need to purchase. On a related note, many of Loram's positions DO offer per diem. Please check with your Machine Superintendent or HR for information on these positions. Some of our positions also offer paid time off.
