Pros

Good start pay for Part-time. I started out at $11.30 which I think is pretty good for part-time I mean at my last retail position at a different company, I made $8 and after 2 years of hard work, got $8.33 /hr.Every associate is able to get a team bonus, gets vacation and healthcare, part-time included. Friendly and collaborative team environment.

Cons

It's hard to move up the "chain." Almost impossible. As a sales associate your say doesn't really matter. It's all corporate based. Wearing any color vest, customers expect that you know everything about everything in the store. Weekend work little supervision (you pick up the slack of others) you are expected to take of customers and get a to-do list done (sometimes impossible.) No over time and must work a weekend day every now and then without taking a long weekend. Covering other departments due to the lack of scheduling of employees which puts you behind on goals. They say money can be made here, but only if your an Assistant store manager and up. It's like any retail job...

Pros

I enjoyed working there as I was an industrial education teacher and knew how to communicate with the DIYers how to get their projects accomplished. I found talking with the pros mutually helpful. Talking with them I learned just as much.

Cons

The first group of managers were straight forward ( I was there six years), but each year it seem to go down hill. Last manager I later learned was sent there to get rid of anyone making over minimum. A true nightmare to work for. I hope things will get better.

Pros

I love providing great customer service and to be in a job where you are truly valued as a employee. I have been with Lowe's for almost 2 years now and i like it a little more each day great benefits flexible schedule (and i'm full time) sweet vacation, sick, and holiday pay after the first year too top it off (and you even build up some in the first year) and the advancement opportunities are their you just have to be willing to chase them. All of my coworkers, managers, assistant store manager's, and even the store manager is their to eagerly help you and teach you what you need and want to know it makes you feel truly together as a team. I would recommend a career with Lowe's to anybody i like "My Lowe's Life" (you see what i done there that was a work pun XD)

Cons

Well in retail everyone starts off making dirt i know i did and it sucked but that's mostly all retail places not just Lowe's, and there is a certain lack of training when you start it feels like they almost are throwing you to the wolves but lucky my fellow employee's where there to help. And lets face it customers can be real jerks and you have to learn to just take it (once again that's mostly all retail not just one company) so honestly i don't really know of anything negative to say about Lowe's its the best company I've worked for so far.
