Used to be great, now under micro management

Pros

Used to be a great company to work till current CEO came in. All the employees were like family members. They respect each other and their ablity of work. Each of members do their own favourite and best of them. No micro management at all. Managements believe staff members and staff members do their best for the company. Many talented members were there in each section of department. Even CEO himself sends out unknown individual like me for appreciating my work to help the emergency situation of the company. Previous CEO's speach was always inspiring and fun to listen at annual speach.

Cons

Now after current CEO came in, all the atmosphere was changed. Now the company was changed to focus on stock market value rather than actual works in the company. Many of chemists left company told me that there came in micro management and they can not spend time searching for new inventions. This effect was caused by merging another company and micro management concept came in. Each employee tries to show off what they does and tries to lick up management by detail daily verbal report. Management does not like people who wants to do their own way. Employee has to obey management's command which some times is wrong as they don't know the real daily operation in detail.

Pros

Specialty chemical company that prides itself in sustainability and innovation. As a co-op, there are many opportunites to travel and contribute greatly to the company. Co-ops really gain insight into what it'd like to be a full-time engineer.

Cons

Rarely long hours are required. Being the on call engineer for your process comes with the responsibility of running batch experiments. Can sometimes be difficult to totally unplug from work.

Pros

Managers and colleagues encouraged you to learn new skills and make suggestions as an intern. Flexibility in work schedule-most important point was finishing assigned work.

Cons

Full time employees complained some about pay. Can be difficult to get an understanding of what other parts of the company are doing.
