Pros

I worked there for five years starting as a contractor and hired on full time. I worked in the IT department as a network analyst. The best part about this job was the people. I can only speak for the people in IT but they were top notch. Not everyone brings their A game but the people that they do are the salt of the earth and are willing to bring others up to speed in areas that they lack.

Cons

Technical managers in IT is something that they lack. The managers that are technical do not give the input needed so progress is left to the non-managers to figure things out. When managers (non technical) get involved they can hamper progress by not seeing the full picture as those on the ground do.

This place can be a sweatshop...no work/life balance.

Pros

Strong overall company values, good compensation, free lunch.

Cons

Long hours, no 9/80 schedule, no casual Fridays, very little room for advancement and no real career path for most employees. Does not stack up to its peer group. The company also needs to decide if its focus is going to be offshore, onshore or deepwater...the company is in a bit of an identity crisis.

Pros

International travel, committed and hard working colleagues. A great legacy from its founding family.

Cons

The management board (since the founder's son died) is focused solely on profit. They are lacking in humanity or holistic vision. They are currently planning to standardize and migrate many global jobs to low wage countries, but are not honest with their colleagues about it. Upper - mid level managers are either unaware they are pawns or are complicit. The constant expectation of employees always giving more and getting less has become rote and hard to appreciate.
