Pros

The senior residents are the best!

Cons

Unfortunately MBK is a company that practices hiring unstable and unprofessional personnel for their management at the local level and corporate level. They do not care about the senior residents who live in their communities, it’s about the bottom dollar. Interesting because it is a Japanese owed company and that is a culture rich with integrity for caring for their elders. Unfortunately MBK is a management company that does not practice these same virtues. HR is not a department for employees, it is a department utilized to cover and protect the ‘higher ups’ and their sociopathic behaviors. Most likely because charges would have to be implemented and rehiring is expensive at this level. If you care for seniors and have integrity in your work, do not work for MBK. Sad because they could do good work with the right competent management instead of the soulless management they have been operating under. It’s almost as if those in positions of management applied and were hired out of pity. Because I don’t think other credible companies would offer positions in management to such low level mentalities such as the people who MBK hires. Respect yourself and work some where else. I plan to leave soon.

Pros

The local employee teams and local management are very caring and hard working. Everyone I met was very committed and loved by the seniors they care for. Which is truly a beautiful thing to experience!

Cons

The management team at their headquarters are completely disorganized and have no idea what life is like on their senior living properties. Local managers are scared to speak up because they are afraid of losing their jobs. (Four separate EDs have told me this) I had such hope when working for them, but they just have no idea how to help their employees or gain a good understanding of how to organize their business strategies, their sales teams, operations, marketing and so on. Pay is just ok, but doable. I watched several EDs and Sales people get fired when they didn't meet a quota. No plan to help them or ask what is happening their local market to try and help fix anything. It's pure bottom dollar to them. I understand that a business needs to make money, but they let go of so many strong professionals (or made them quit) for the wrong reasons. (Too many individuals with the same story from across the states they are in) Not disgruntelled here (again there are some good people) ... just want a potential applicant to understand that there are challenges at hand that are happening throughout their whole system. I wish them the best and hope they find their way, but be on alert if you chose to move forward as an employee. They have a high turn over in their local markets.
