      Pros

      There is a wide variety of tasks to work on and several opportunities to make your impact on national issues. There is never a question for me as to whether my work matters. The flexibility at MITRE is also nice - my department enabled me to work from home and take time off for doctor's appointments as needed.

      Cons

      It can be difficult to find interesting projects/research to keep you engaged. It heavily relies on your internal network (which is non-existant when you first get there) and on your direct supervisor.
