Pros

- People. I have had the pleasure of working with smart and friendly individuals - Office - it looks nice - Pace of work - it never gets stressful - Free food Fridays - always welcomed.

Cons

- Managers - most are simply incompetent. Promotions happen on the basis of friendships and not skills. The push for gender equality at leadership levels also adds to the incompetence - Strategy and planning - There is no clear strategy, only generic targets and inspirational stories. As a result, the actual planning and implementation of those visions is mostly left up to the teams. Teams led by those star managers mentioned above. What a mess - Working practices - People are not held accountable for slacking off or making repeated mistakes, maybe out of the fear of making them feel bad. The relaxed pace of work also means that things take ages to get done. Working at a normal pace makes you look like Superman - Performance reviews - absolutely worthless. Objectives are sometimes changed a week before review, mainly because you didn't get to do what you had planned for. If you look above, you might guess that it had something to do with bad managers, worse planning and slackers.

Pros

Free lunch and cake on Friday, Excellent Parties, although the budget for these has been cut back drastically recently. Culturally diverse employees Nice offices, casual dress code

Cons

Career progression and development is abysmal, performance review process is close to useless. Line managers often make lots of noise/blog posts but achieve very little. Can think of two recent incidents of entire teams quitting due to management issues Current CTO lacks experience Training budget is not enough for decent training The code base, so much legacy and so many different and clashing architectural decisions. The current development environments are also fairly problematic

Pros

Free food. Great office. Good company to have in your CV.

Cons

Aggresive micromanagement disguised as agile. People suddenly disappear and you never hear from them again. Codebase is terrible and while they promise you fixing tech debt is a priority, other work is pushed to teams leaving them no time to fix anything.
