Pros
- People. I have had the pleasure of working with smart and friendly individuals - Office - it looks nice - Pace of work - it never gets stressful - Free food Fridays - always welcomed.
Cons
- Managers - most are simply incompetent. Promotions happen on the basis of friendships and not skills. The push for gender equality at leadership levels also adds to the incompetence - Strategy and planning - There is no clear strategy, only generic targets and inspirational stories. As a result, the actual planning and implementation of those visions is mostly left up to the teams. Teams led by those star managers mentioned above. What a mess - Working practices - People are not held accountable for slacking off or making repeated mistakes, maybe out of the fear of making them feel bad. The relaxed pace of work also means that things take ages to get done. Working at a normal pace makes you look like Superman - Performance reviews - absolutely worthless. Objectives are sometimes changed a week before review, mainly because you didn't get to do what you had planned for. If you look above, you might guess that it had something to do with bad managers, worse planning and slackers.
